Not just because its the year of my birth  (1973) which is a prime number its self, but because 73 is awesome.

Here is some data from Wikipedia

But in short:

• 73 is a prime number.  The 21st prime number. 
• 7*3 =  21.
• If you swap the numbers around it becomes 37 which is also a prime number – the 12th (position numbers also swapped).
• In binary, 73 is a palindrome, 1001001, which backwards is 1001001, exactly the same. 
• And did I mention that 73 was the year I was born in?
