After three weeks of trying I finally managed a lap round Brockwell Park without stopping! YAY!
I can’t tell you how good that makes me feel. I was starting to think that I was creating mental barriers about how far my body could run (which I know I have done before) however over the last 3 days I have run each day (twice with Aaron, once today by myself) and each time its felt good.
Today I ploughed through my ‘barrier’ and pushed myself on to complete the lap! and in a record breaking 23 minutes 10 seconds!
You can see the details here: http://connect.garmin.com/player/10788715
I believe this breakthrough is because of the 3 runs over 3 days – which tells me if I am to push myself on past this 1 lap barrier – I need to get out running more than twice a week. I’m loathe to say I need to be running daily – but I need to get up to 10 miles (16km) which is over 3 times the distance I am currently running by the 25th October for the Great South Run. Daily may be the way forward for me!
I think also I may need to find another run/route as this may also help me past my lap barrier.
Lots of things to consider, but for today, I am VERY happy.
Cheers
Steve
