I’ve just finished listening to the audio books – all 14 of them, although I have actually read or listened to the first 10 multiple times as I kept going back to the start, or back at least a couple of books, when a new book was published, this is only the second time I’ve done the whole series back to back, and wow, what a journey!
I started reading them in the early 2000’s so there were initially quite a few to get through, but then I had to wait a year between each new book and then, tragically, Robert Jordan died before finishing them. Luckily for all of us the Brandon Sanderson stepped in finished the story with 3 more books.
With all that it is an amazing series – with a couple of really gut wrenching, and some tear jerking chapters (yes, yes, I occasionally get so involved in books they can make me cry) the end for me just comes to suddenly.
Yes, at the end of 14 books, which if you read all in a row can give you serious immersion, issues it just suddenly STOPS. Part of you is so wary of reading (or listening) to the story by then that you want it to end, are even glad its ended, but another part is screaming “WHAT HAPPENS NEXT??”
To be honest, I’m glad its over. Glad I can now fling myself into something else, something new. But I still want to know more…
